Smart-Web-2

Top 5 reasons to attend SmartWeb, the conference for east european web designers and developers

The cool crew at Evensys is setting up the last details of SmartWeb #2. The event will be held in Bucharest, on 22 and 23 September. If you haven’t heard about yet or you’re still deciding, here are the top 5 reasons to attend it.

#1 See and interact with a great line up of speakers

What I like about the speakers is that they are veterans of the web but they keep up with all the new things. So you have experience + curiosity and constant evolution. A interesting mix to say the least. These are the types of people I admire the most in professional world because they still have the spirit to fight in the trenches day by day and year after year. They stay in the zone.

You’ll meet with Vitaly Friedman (Smashing Magazine), Bruce Lawson, Remy Sharp, Jeremy Keith and others. You also can attend one of the two workshops on Responsive Design or CSS Architecture for big front-ends.

#2 Break your comfort zone and try new things

So you work in the web industry. Chances are that you’re staying way too much in front of the computer. I know because I’ve been there and we’ve all been there at some point in our lives. The interesting thing happens when you get off your but and go out there and do new things. You start to make new connections. You get the courage to start on that new project or an old passion you’ve neglected.

Every time you step out your comfort zone and regular routines you learn more about yourself and you evolve. Both in your personal and you professional life.

#3 See how others are doing it

For me it’s always an amazing experience to see how other talented people do their craft. Most of the times it’s an eye opening experiences because your universe expands and you see things from a new, enlarged perspective. And all of the sudden, a lot of ideas start popping up. You start to try new things and you get better, more mature and more confident.

Also, you can learn a lot but learning how others have overcame the same struggles and challenges you’re facing at some point.

#4 Discover a new culture: Bucharest and Romania

Bucharest has a lot to offer, that’s why the number of foreign tourists start growing with each year. You’ll see a mix of classic and modern and a lot of contrasts. You can discover great architecture, chill coffee shops or wild bars and pubs. Bucharest is a living contradiction and itself and you’ll love it or hate it. But it will get a reaction from you.

Plus you get to try our local cuisine, wines and spirits. That’s a memorable one.

#5 Make new friends in the industry and get inspired

Year by year in our industry the distances seem shorter. Collaboration is rising, global teams are pretty much the norm and borders are collapsing. With that in mind it’s always nice to meet new people who share the same passion and desires.

Sharing that energy beats reading ten books alone, on your phone or kindle. I’m not sure why, maybe because we’re still humans and like to hang around , talk and work together.

So, I hope we’ll see each other on 22 – 23 September at SmartWeb. There’s just a couple of day left, can’t wait for it.
